When he was a teenager, Thorsten inherited a book on magic and a number of magic instruments from his elder brother. That was back in 1986.
Absolutely fascinated by the world of magic, he devoted himself enthusiastically to his new passion. He was soon picking up fees for his performances, which he immediately spent on courses and books on magic, and on new tricks.

After completing high school and his civilian national service (the alternative to compulsory military service in Germany), Thorsten Havener studied interpreting at the Universities of Saarbrücken and California State University at Monterey Bay.
In 1995 Thorsten Havener came first in his class in the "magie générale" category at the French championships. By this time, he was also performing all over Germany.

In 1998, while he was still at university, Thorsten Havener decided to turn professional.
But he continued his studies, which helped him to hone his skills in the art of communication, and graduated in 2001 with a degree in translation (English/French).

2001 marked a turning point in Thorsten Havener’s career as a magician. Gradually, he moved away from classical magic and focused increasingly on the power of the mind, and on his own abilities in the field of mind reading.
While he was at university, Thorsten Havener had made an important discovery. For him, interpreting is a very special process of observation, involving all the senses: gesture, facial expression, emphasis. These, he is convinced, underline the meaning of the spoken word, creating an integrated whole. During his work at university and in intensive personal training sessions, he worked systematically on improving his skills of perception. Suddenly, the processes of the mind became visible even without words!

This unique blend of magic, perception, suggestion, hypnosis and experience created a new art form: mind reading.

Through his experiments, Thorsten offers his audiences the opportunity to see the world through new eyes, to discover new dimensions of reality. People really enjoy his performances, but they are also unsettled by them: he often turns everything we know about the world upside down. Mind reading is a form of interactive entertainment – it is not psychiatric therapy or crystal-ball gazing! Thorsten Havener does not claim to have supranatural powers.
But he has managed to achieve a unique fusion of natural human powers – powers which are invariably neglected in our modern world.

It hardly came as a surprise, then, that the German TV channel Sat1 recognized Thorsten Havener’s talent as a gifted and popular entertainer in 2005, and gave him his own TV show. He pioneered a new genre, and soon became a frequent guest on Germany’s major talk shows, amazing famous hosts like Johannes B. Kerner and Stefan Raab.
He is also much in demand on Germany’s leading radio shows. After he had appeared on a morning show, Radio FFN’s webcam was watched by no fewer than 35,000 viewers – an absolute record! The press reaction to his shows is highly positive, as enthusiastic reviews show. On his extensive tours through Europe, Thorsten Havener thrills the thousands of people who come to see his shows.

But he does not merely appear on stage. Thorsten Havener also gives talks at various events and offers systematic training courses. He is currently committing his insights into the human mind to paper: his first book will be appearing this autumn.

Thorsten Havener leads a quiet life with his family in a house south of Munich.
